Jnetics’ Chanukah Concert brought light and an evening of musical delight!

On Thursday 7th December, over 300 people attended Jnetics Chanukah Concert which took place at South Hampstead United Synagogue. The concert featured the amazing Chazan Jonny Turgel, The Shabbaton Choir and the choirs from Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School and Immanuel College Prep School who all sung their hearts out in aid of Jnetics.

The event commenced with a welcome from Jnetics’ Trustee, Leon Blitz who spoke about the importance of the work Jnetics does within the community. “I encourage you to spread the word about our recessive testing service to your family and friends who can benefit from carrier screening and to those eligible, BRCA screening. Through our soft launch we have already found close to 60 BRCA carriers. That’s 60 people and their families that have the knowledge to catch cancer prior to developing. This medical development is groundbreaking and one we are very proud to be a part of.

With the advancement of scientific research and your help, we can save thousands of lives within our community.”

Chazan Jonny Turgel then led the Chanukah candle lighting service with pupils from Sacks Morasha, Eva Angel and Seth Isaacs from Immanuel College Prep school. This was followed by the performance from The Shabbaton Choir who sang beautiful tunes including Bilvavi, Adon Olam and Yigdal to name a few. Chazan Jonny Turgel wowed the audience with his solo of “When you believe” from The Prince of Egypt film.

The concert ended with thanks from our Chairman Tony Angel, who then invited guests to join the Jnetics team for refreshments in the shul foyer. The concert ended with everyone singing The Hatikvah as our thoughts are very much with Israel at this difficult time.

The event would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of The Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Charitable Foundation. Jnetics are so grateful to The Ziff family for enabling us to deliver the event.
