Record number of Jnetics runners at Maccabi Community Fun Run 2018

This year, the number of runners that participated as part of Team Jnetics in the Maccabi Community Fun Run exceeded the record set in 2017.
On Sunday 24th of June, a record 73 individuals, ranging from 12 months to 80 years old, ran in support of Jnetics at Allianz Park. They had the choice to run, jog or walk either 1,5 or 10 km. Some even chose to take part in all 3 races. Collectively, the runners managed to raise over £5500, which will make an enormous difference to the delivery of Jnetics’ multi-faceted services, specifically the GENEius programme.
Our top fundraisers were 12 month old Theo Sakol, and dedicated Jnetics volunteer Anne Bergbaum. Theo took part in the 1km race with his parents, Bianca and Gary, who found out via Jnetics carrier screening that they were both carriers of a severe recessive Jewish genetic disorder called Canavan Disease. It was in fact at the Maccabi Community Fun Run a few years ago that they first heard about Jnetics and decided to get screened. Volunteer Anne took part in the 5km race. She frequently gives up her time to attend GENEius screening events in a ‘screening advisor’ role, and herself described the programme as ‘invaluable’.
