The exciting day at the Allianz Park in Hendon saw a huge 105 runners take part for Jnetics, beating 2018’s record of 73 participants. The wide range of runners in Team Jnetics spanned from age 12 months to 82 years old. Our team of 105 either ran, jogged or walked a distance of 1km, 5km, or 10km, and many participated in the new 5km colour run. Some even chose to take part in all 3 distances, by doing the tri-run! Collectively, the runners managed to raise over £5000, with profits still coming in, which will make an enormous difference to the delivery of Jnetics’ multi-faceted services, specifically the GENEius programme and its expansion into universities.
The top fundraisers for Team Jnetics were cousins Lia, Jolie, Macy, Ruby and Casey (along with parents Lauren, Rich, Rachel and Jared), and GENEius participant Alma. The group of cousins and their parents took part in the 1km race – Lia, Rucy and Macy’s parents Lauren and Richard found out through Jnetics screenings that they are both carriers of the severe recessive Jewish genetic disorder Tay Sachs. GENEius participant Alma took part in the 5km Colour Run as she wanted to give back to Jnetics’ cause after receiving fully funded screenings at the University of Birmingham.
If you’re interested in taking part in the Maccabi Community Fun Run 2020, on Sunday 5th July, as part of Team Jnetics, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and a member of staff will get back to you.
