This Spring, the GENEius programme visited Year 12 students at King David High School in Manchester this January. The team presented at assembly to educate the year group about Jewish genetic disorders and what it means to be a carrier in an assembly and then screened 64 students.
Later on in the term, GENEius visited JFS School to educate nearly 200 Year 12 students about Jewish genetic disorders, and then went back to the school twice for screening sessions. In total, 173 JFS Year 12 students were screened.
These students, thanks to their education session and screening, now have the necessary knowledge to protect their future family from inheriting a severe, recessive Jewish genetic disorder.
