On Saturday 27th February 2021 after Shabbat, over 150 people joined us at our inaugural virtual ‘gin tasting experience’ event on Zoom Prior to the event all participants were sent a pack of four gins, 3 tonics and a leaflet with information about Jnetics and a letter which told participants what garnishes they would need in addition to their gin and tonics.
The evening was introduced by our CEO Nicole Gordon who spoke about Jnetics’ mission, the GENEius programme and the importance of genetic screening through the Jnetics clinic.
Following her introduction Nicole handed over to Jass from Tomoka Spirits Boutique who led the gin tasting experience. Jass took participants on a virtual tour around the world tasting gins such as Nikka Coffey Gin, Manly Spirits Coastal Citrus Gin, Mare Mediterranean Gin and Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin from Australia, Spain, Japan and closer to home in Cornwall.
One of our participants, Linda Yaffe told us “ It really has been a fantastic event. For the first time in 3 months, my husband and I felt like we had enjoyed a fun evening out, well done Jnetics for breaking the monotony of lockdown!
Another participant shared with us that the highlight for him was discovering how garnishes such as cucumber and lemon and orange zest can make such a difference to a gin and tonic!
The evening concluded with a raffle, where 8 fabulous prizes that had kindly been donated were won by participants.
Nicole Gordon, CEO, Jnetics told us “It appears that a fabulous evening was enjoyed by all. The event raised close to £6000 which we were delighted with. That £6000, will pay for 20 more young adults to be screened and help us further in achieving our mission, of screening all young adults before they embark on parenthood!”
Nicole concluded the evening by asking participants to help Jnetics spread the word about their screening programme.
