A Successful Autumn Term for GENEius

It has been a great start to the school year for the GENEius programme. This term GENEius was delivered to year 12 students at Yavneh College and JCoSS. We were thrilled to see an increase at both schools in the screening uptake from last year, with over 70% of the year group participating in screening.

Whilst at the schools we enjoyed seeing some visitors. At Yavneh College we saw Raquel Lewin, who is now teaching at the school, and are very grateful that she was able to help out during the screening session at the school. At JCoSS we were visited by Elaine Kerr, former Chief Executive at Norwood and Asya Choudry, Community Engagement Manager from Breaking Down Barriers, who observed how the GENEius screening worked and spoke with the students about the programme.

A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteer team, it can’t be said enough that your support is essential to the success of the GENEius programme – and has enabled the screening events in schools to go from strength to strength.

We look forward to returning to King David High School in Manchester in the new year and the other Jewish schools throughout the academic year.

Wishing everyone a Happy Chanukah – enjoy the holidays!
